Little Pilgrim in Koyasan

Travel Journals

お遍路する Little Pilgrim(84屋島寺〜87長尾寺編)

お遍路する Little Pilgrim(88大窪寺編)

We decided to try #10 Kirihataji Temple someday and went to Naruto-Nishi bus stop by the highway bus on 4th March.

While we were walking from the bus stop, Kotaro screamed “Monkeys!”
We witnessed wild monkeys passing just in front of us.

Where we arrived was #1 Ryozenji Temple.

This temple is close not only from the bus stop but also to the following #2 Gokurakuji, #3 Konsenji, and JR Itano Station.
The first temple was crowded with ohenro-san (pilgrims) and tourists with cameras too.

After visiting three temples on foot, we crossed the sea by ferry for Wakayama.
Even comparatively easy course, we walked as long as 6km in all.

We had dinner at a ramen restaurant named “Kotaro” in Wakayama.

After checkout from the guesthouse in Wakayama the next morning, we took an express train “Tenku” at Hashimoto Station.
Kotaro’s dad had reserved a seat for him in advance.

Express Tenku goes into the deep mountains through steep slopes and loops.
When he found a trekking path along the railway, he said, “I’d like to walk there…”
He’ll be a great hiker or real pilgrim.

But he loves the train!
Of course, he keeps the head of the cable car.

We walk 2km to Okuno-in.

The first spectacle for him in Koyasan is a “uni-crane” hoisted by a “cargo-crane”.
Both cranes are products of Tadano, our proud local manufacturer in Kagawa.

No picture in Okuno-in, of course.
We thankfully got a holly stamp and calligraphy on his “nokyocho” book after pray and came back.

Kotaro had a kiddy lunch and I had a vegetarian.

Kongobuji Temple!

Kompon-Daito Tower!

He kept the head of going down cable car again with another train lover from Taiwan.

We arrived at Namba by express.

Kotaro can read figures now, so he can recognize “551”, a famous local stand of Chinese food in Osaka.
“I and dad eat 4 shaomais, up to here now. And I bring 6 shaomais back home for mom and Kichi (little brother) because they are good eaters.”
