台東から、特急列車で花蓮へとやってきました。
台東に比べれば、花蓮はずいぶんと都会に感じます。
でもこちら、3泊したお宿は細い路地沿いの落ち着いた古民家です。
We arrived at Hualien from Taitung by express train.
Hualien looked like a big city for us comparing to Taitung but our stay here was in this classical old house along the back street.
この宿も、戦前、日本時代の古民家をリノベしたもの。
あちこちに手づくり感があります。
This house was also built during the Japanese period before the war and renovated by handwork recently.
花蓮２日目は、太魯閣（たろこ）峡谷です。
花蓮駅からビジターセンターまでバスで行って、そこから小錐麓遊歩道、砂卡礑遊歩道を歩きます。
全長5kmぐらいはあったでしょうか。
Our destination on the second day in Hualien was Taroko Gorge.
We walked Xiaozhuilu Trail and Shakadang Trail from the Visitor Center.
It was around 5km.
どうやったらこんなに青くなるのだろうかというぐらい青い川の水。
やはり見応えがあります。
How can the river water be so blue?
遊歩道沿いの、ワイルドなトイレ。

花蓮3日目は、市内散策です。
花蓮文化創意産業園区は日本時代、酒類の工場だったところで、今はその歴史を知れたり、レストランやお店が入っています。
しかしそんなことはお構いなく、ふたりは穴掘りに興じます。
We walked around the city on the third day in Hualien.
This Hualien Cultural Creative Industries Park is the former alcohol factory during Japan period and now tourists can learn its history, enjoy shopping and eating.
For them, it never matters.
They are digging soil.
駐輪場の車輪止めすら、おもちゃです。
For him, even rings at bicycle parking are his toys.
花蓮はワンタンが有名らしく、食べてみます。
今まで食べてきたワンタン、あれは何だったのかと思うぐらいに、旨い。
旨すぎて、
Hualien seems famous for wonton.
We tried it.

花蓮から台北に、おなじみ、特急列車で向かいます。
買った駅弁が豪華でテンションがあがる。
台湾はどこも、駅弁が本当に豪華で旨い。
This great station box lunch at the station excites us.
Any station box lunch in Taiwan is gorgeous and tasty.
台北は、翌朝の帰国フライトに乗るために立ち寄ったぐらいなのですが、彼にはミッションがありました。
台北駅構内の台鉄グッズのショップです。
そこで、自分と、かわいい弟、喜一のために、台鉄靴下を買いました。
We just dropped on Taiwan to fly back home however he had a mission.
He must go to Taiwan Railway Shop in Taipei station and successfully bought TRA socks for himself and his lovely brother, Kiichi.
そして夜は、4年前に若葉屋に宿泊されたお客さんと再開！
ホテル近くの、地元民で賑わう台湾レストランで、たらふく食べました。
We reunited with our Taiwanese friend who stayed at wakabaya four years ago and ate until our stomach distended at a popular local restaurant.
桃園国際空港のポストで、自分宛ての絵葉書を投函します。
この絵葉書も、台鉄ショップで幸太郎が選んで買ったもの。
列車のかっこいい写真と、お花のきれいな写真が、両方入った一枚というのが彼のこだわりです。
そして今日、1月28日にこの絵葉書は、高松の我が家に届きましたとさ。
At the end of our trip, Kotaro posted a postcard for himself at Taoyuan International Airport.
This postcard with cool train and beautiful flowers picture was also his choice at Taiwan Railway Shop and it has come back to his hands in Takamatsu today 28th January!
