2019年の85番札所 八栗寺から始まった幸太郎との父子遍路は、その後何度かに区切りながら香川県内の22箇寺、すべてを踏破。
さらに、徳島県内の1番から10番までも歩き進めてきました。
今回の父子遍路のスタートは、午前8時過ぎにJR徳島線 阿波川島駅から。
I started a walking pilgrimage in Shikoku called “o-henro” with my son “Kotaro” from the 85th temple Yakuriji in 2019.
We have already completed all of the 22 temples in Kagawa prefecture and visited from the 1st to the 10th in Tokushima prefecture too.
Our journey this time was launched at JR Awa Kawashima Station at 8 o’clock in the morning.
約1時間後に、11番札所 藤井寺（ふじいでら）に到着。
近所の子どもとおばあちゃんがお散歩に来ていました。
幸太郎がこれから歩いて焼山寺（しょうさんじ）へ向かうと言うと、おばあちゃんが大声を上げて驚き、それに幸太郎は満足げでした。
We arrived at the 11th temple Fujiidera.
A local boy was playing there with his grandmother.
When we told her that Kotaro was going for Shosanji temple on foot, she got so surprised and Kotaro looked satisfied at that.
藤井寺からはすぐに、未舗装の焼山寺みちが伸びています。
A dirt trail reaches Shosanji from Fujiidera.
出ました、遍路ころがし。
焼山寺まで6箇所もあるらしく、その1箇所目。
急登が始まります。
The steep uphills face us.
吉野川を挟む平野部が、もうあんなにも下に。
ここで7.5km地点。
ここからさらに10km以上歩くことについて、「歩ける気がしない」と、幸太郎から弱音が出て、不安になる父です。
We’ve already walked 7.5 km this day and the plains got so far.
When I told Kotaro that we were supposed to walk 10 km more, he whined “No, I don’t think I can walk so long”.
柳水庵（りゅうすいあん）を通過。
あちこち、春の花が咲き乱れて、花見しながらの父子遍路です。
この頃から、幸太郎に元気とど根性が復活。
But we could pass a small temple Ryusuian with a smile.
Blooming spring flowers welcomed us along the trails in deep mountains.
ちょうどいい感じの杉の枝が、幸太郎の相棒になりました。
A Japanese cedar branch became his new partner.
杖を突きながら、急な尾根を登りきったところに、弘法大師像と一本杉が！
ここ、左右内の一本杉と浄蓮庵（じょうれんあん）で休憩。
「なんか、パワーが出てきた気がする！」
弘法大師のお力やで。
The statue of a priest Kobodaishi and a huge cedar tree were waiting for us on the top of the ridge.
After a short break there, Kotaro said “I feel something gave me power!”
Yes, Kobodaishi did it for you.
向かって左が不動明王像で、右が丁石（ちょういし）。
遍路道沿いに置かれた丁石には数字が刻まれていて、藤井寺から焼山寺へ歩くに連れて、その数字が小さくなっていきます。
スマホで現在地を確認するよりも、この丁石を見ながら歩くほうが、歩を進めている実感があります。
The small stone statue on his right is a kind of milestone called “choishi” in Japanese.
These stones are put along the trail to Shosanji, and while walking, the carved number was getting smaller and smaller.
It makes us realize our progress more than GPS on the smartphone does.
杉の杖を第3の足として、一所懸命に上がれば、焼山寺までもうすぐのはず。
The cedar staff helps him climbing up to Shosanji.
スタートして6時間半、15kmを歩いて、ついに、焼山寺に着きました。
御参り、納経を済ませたら、本日の宿までさらに3km弱、歩きます。
After walking 15 km for 6.5 hours, we arrived at Shosanji at last.
We recited the sutra and received the inscription and continued walking 3 km more for the inn.
と、歩き始めたところで、杖としていた杉の枝が折れてしまいました。
幸太郎は、涙を流し、声を上げて泣きました。
ここまで一緒に楽しく歩いてきて、翌日もこの杖と一緒に歩くつもりだったからです。
杉の枝は、杉林に投げて返しました。
このあとも、杉林を歩きながら探したものの、幸太郎の手にちょうどいい太さ、幸太郎の身長にちょうどいい長さで、まっすぐな枝が見つかることはありませんでした。
そして、そもそも、杉の枝が折れた後の道は、もう杖がなくても歩ける道でした。
When we started to walk again from Shosanji, his staff snapped.
Kotaro shed tears and sobbed because he enjoyed walking with this partner and intended to continue the journey together on the next day too.
He threw the snapped branch into the forest.
Since then, we had seen hundreds of branches in the forest but none of them fit his hand and his height.
However, the trail after there was so easy that we didn’t need a staff anymore.
一日目は9時間半かけて、１，４86ｍ登って、１，２７４ｍ下って、18.7kmを歩きました。
品数いっぱいでおいしい夕食を、ふたりとも腹いっぱい食べました。
We climbed 1,486 m, descended 1,274 m, and walked 18.7 km for 9.5 hours on the first day.
Our first inn was “Farmer’s Guest House Morian Loft” and we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast there.
2日目。
前日からずっと山道を歩いてきて、ようやく、眼下に集落が見えてきました。
Day 2
After a long walk in the deep mountains since the day before, we could see a village below at last.
「あ、ひとがいる！」
いいえ、かかしです。
“Someone is there!”
No, they are scarecrows.
沈下橋（潜水橋）を渡るのが好き。
道は鮎喰川（あくいがわ）に沿って、なおも下ります。
He likes crossing the subsidence bridge.
The road runs along the Akuigawa River and keeps descending gently.
たんぽぽの茎を笛にしたり、
A dandelion stalk makes a spring sound.
桜吹雪を起こしたりしながら、
Dropping cherry blossoms tell of the cycle of the seasons.
2日目のお宿に到着。
7時間で１３．９ｋｍ歩きました。
この日は素泊まりの宿で、近くに食べるところもないので、リュックに詰めてきたカップ麺が夕食です。
We walked 13.9 km for 7 hours and finally arrived at the second inn.
Our dinner was instant noodles we brought because the inn didn’t serve meals and there was no restaurant around there.
プチペンションやすらぎをチェックアウトして、3日目がスタート。
Day 3
After checking out the inn, the third day opened.
ほどなくして、13番札所 大日寺に到着。
それから14番札所 常楽寺、15番札所 国分寺、16番札所 観音寺と、立て続けに御参り、納経。
Arrived at the 13th temple Dainichiji soon after the start.
After that, visited the 14th Jorakuji, the 15th Kokubunji, and the16th Kan’onji quickly.
最後はJR徳島線 府中（こう）駅がゴールです。
ゴール直前にこけて、不機嫌です。
3日目は4時間55分で１２．１ｋｍ歩きました。
3日間では合計、44.7kmを歩いた幸太郎は、この数日後に、小学校に入学しました。
Our goal was JR Ko Station.
He looked unhappy because he fell down just before the station.
We walked 12.1 km for 5 hours on the third day and the total distance we walked for three days was 44.7 km.
さて、杖の話です。
お遍路さんが持って歩く金剛杖は、弘法大師そのものであると言われます。
そのため、杖には「同行二人」と書かれていて、お遍路さんは常にお大師さんと二人で歩いているのです。
あの杉の枝は、焼山寺までの難所を無事に越えられるために現れた、幸太郎にとっての弘法大師だったのだと思います。
By the way, let me talk about the staff (stick).
Many ohenro-san (a pilgrim in Shikoku) walk with a staff called “kongozue”.
We believe that the staff is the incarnation of Kobodaishi, so ohenro-san always walks with Kobodaishi.
That’s why “同行二人 dogyo ninin” written on the staff means “We walk together”.
Kotaro’s cedar staff was Kobodaishi for him and piloted him to Shosanji safely, I believe.
