昨年、2018年にゲストハウス若葉屋に駐車された車、333台のうちの64台は、関西からお越しの方々でした。
若葉屋のある香川県高松市から、関西方面へ車で向かうときに、必ず通るところ。
東かがわ市。
通ってはいるけど、おそらく、そのほぼすべての車が、東かがわ市を素通りしています。
というよりも、素通りさせてしまっていたなと反省しています。
64 cars of 333 parked at Guest House Wakabaya last year, in 2018 were from Kansai Area.
When they go back to Kansai from Takamatsu, they always pass through Higashi-Kagawa city but they do not stop there.
先日、香川県観光協会主催で、県内観光案内所スタッフを対象とした、広域観光研修会＠東かがわ市に参加してきました。
「え？ なぜその研修にゲストハウスが？」と思われるかも知れませんが、実はゲストハウス若葉屋は2018年5月より、外国人案内所として政府観光局（JNTO）より認定を受けているのです。
I joined into a tour of inspection to Higashi-Kagawa for the tourist information center staff arranged by the Tourism Association of Kagawa Prefecture.
Guest House Wakabaya is a guesthouse but also a tourist information center for international tourists authorized by the Japanese government.

さて、東かがわ市。
東かがわ市観光協会事務局長さんのアテンドのもと、マイクロバスに乗った参加者一行がまず向かったのは、とらまるパペットランド。
大人の事情で、（基本的に）写真撮影NGなので、ブログ掲載も自粛。
人形劇が上演される日であれば、子ども連れファミリーに、おすすめです。
プロの人形劇団による人形劇場としては、国内最多の来場者数を誇ります。
侮れない、本格的なスポットです。
私たちは人形劇そのものは見れませんでしたが、子どもたちが楽しめるポイントがあちこちにありましたよ。
At first, we visited “Toramaru Puppet Land”.
Though photography is not allowed there, I recommend their really professional puppet for kids and their parents also.

次に向かったのは、しろとり動物園。
その存在は、香川県民ならみんな知っています。
でも、行ったことがない。
えらい田舎の方にあって、個人でやっているちっちゃな動物園で、なんか面白いらしい、ということは知っていました。
でも、行ったことがない。
Next, we went to “Shirotori Zoo”.
Every local people know it but we have never visited.
I also knew that it was located in the countryside, was run individually and sounded fun but I had never visited.
行けました！
もふもふ！！
I could finally visit there!
しろとり動物園はゾウ、トラ、ライオンなどの大型動物もいますが、メインは動物とのふれあい。
確かに、えらい田舎の、「え、ここに動物園？」というところにあります。
個人で、というのもある意味本当で、動物好きのおじさんが犬や羊を飼い始めて、結果、こうなったとのこと。
規模は、動物園としては小さいものの、週末は駐車場が満車になるようで、拡張中。
さらに、園内マップにも「開発中」という文字があり、どうやら盛況のよう。
The main purpose to visit Shirotori Zoo is probably to touch small animals, not to watch big animals such as a lion and an elephant.
Yes, this zoo is in the countryside.
Yes, this zoo was originally opened by a local animal-lover man who had begun to keep dogs and sheep as a hobby.
This unique zoo is still getting more popular now and even expanding its parking lot.
クジャクです。
勝手に飛んでいくそうです…。
近隣住民から「うちの前にクジャクが来てますけど」と電話が入ったら、「そのままにしておいてください。そのうち、帰っていきますから」と。
また、園内、柵の外を普通に、うさぎがウロウロしています。
駐車場に住んでいるんだとか…。
Hello, Mr. peacock.
Sometimes he flies away.
A local resident calls the zoo: “Hello, your peacock is walking in front of my house!” and the zoo staff answers: “OK, just let him be. He’ll go back soon by himself.”
Rabbits are jumping around us, not in their cage.
They are not zoo’s rabbits but wild rabbits which inhabit the parking lot.

車でお越しの方は、日本人でも外国人でも、子ども連れでも大人だけでも、ぜひ行ってほしいです。
They live freely.
I recommend Shirotori Zoo to any tourists: Japanese or international, a family with kids or even only adults, just you travel by car.

お昼は、ワーサン亭でハマチの刺身定食。
うまい。
安戸池（あどいけ）という、海岸の砂洲に囲まれた養殖池のほとりに、ワーサン亭はあります。
ハマチは香川県の県魚であり、そのハマチの養殖に初めて成功したのが、ここ、安戸池。
そして、このハマチの養殖成功は、実は、日本で初めて、海面での魚類養殖の成功例でもあります。
「獲る漁業から、育てる漁業へ」はここから始まったんですね。
Our lunch was sashimi of “Hamachi”: young yellowtail, at a fish-farm-lakeside “Adoike”.
This Adoike Lake (seawater) was the first place where Japan succeeded to cultivate saltwater fish.

次に向かったのは、旧家の立ち並ぶ、引田のまちなみ。
とは言ってもご覧のとおり、地面はアスファルトで、上を見上げれば電線が走っています。
旧家の維持はやはり難しいもので、残念なことに、その数は減っています。
そこで、こちら、ボランティアガイドさんの出番なのです。
ぱっと見ただけでは気づかない、商家の裏口、道路の角度、散髪屋さんや郵便局の歴史など。
ガイドがあってこその、引田のまちなみです。
The next destination was the historical town of Hiketa however, the street is cover with asphalt, electric wires run overhead, and unfortunately, the number of traditional houses is decreasing due to difficulties of maintenance.
Therefore, we need a local guide.
They tell us about the structure of the back door of the merchant house, the meaningful angle of the street, the history of a post office, and so on, which we can not find by ourselves.

さてお次は、ピザ屋さん？
いいえ、老舗の醤油屋なんです。
こちらのピザ職人も、普段は醤油職人です。

No, this is a part of the soy sauce works.
This pizza chef is usually a soy sauce workman.
ご覧のとおりの、醸造蔵です。
ここは宝暦3年（1753）創業の醤油屋、「かめびし屋」です。
先ほどのピザ屋では、このかめびし屋の醤油をソースにしてピザを焼き上げています。
Here are brewing wooden barrels of soy sauce.
This is “Kamebishi-ya” established in 1753.
We can enjoy a delicious pizza with this Kamebishi-ya’s soy sauce.
醸造蔵の梁です。
びっしりと覆っているのは、通称「かめびし菌」。
100種類を越える菌類が、かめびし屋の醤油を醸しているのです。
昔は、同業者がこのかめびし菌を盗んで帰っては困ると、部外者立ち入り厳禁だったという蔵。
「今はかめびし菌を持ち帰って、醤油屋を始めようというひとなんか居ませんからね」と、女将さんは言います。
予約をすれば、こうやって蔵の見学ができます。
This is a beam in the brewing house and it is covered over with hundreds of species of fermentative bacteria.
They told us that in the old days an outsider had been strictly prohibited to enter this house to protect their secret and precious bacteria for soy sauce fermentation.
Nowadays a tourist is also allowed to watch inside by advanced reservation.

最後に訪れたのは、香川のてぶくろ資料館。
国産手袋の9割、さらに、プロスポーツ選手用の手袋となるとなんと、ほぼ100％ががここ、東かがわ市で生産されています。
てぶくろ資料館では、手袋の歴史が学べるだけでなく、アウトレット店を併設しているので、お買いものもできます。
私も、自転車によく乗るので、ライダー用の羊皮手袋を2,500円で買いました。
生産地ならではの、高品質、低価格品が手に入りますね。
Our last visit was to the Glove Museum.
As much as 90% of gloves made in Japan and surprisingly almost 100% of gloves for Japanese professional athletes are produced here, in Higashi-Kagawa!
A tourist can learn the history of glove manufacture and buy their product at a specially discounted price.
I also bought sheepskin gloves at 2,500JPY.
