CHEVROLETのきれいな乗用車です。
ウズベキスタンは天然ガスの一大産出国で、自動車の燃料としてはガソリンよりもメタンガスの方が安いそう。
ガソリンスタンドはほとんど見かけず、この車もガソリン車ではなくて、メタンガス車。
A shared taxi I took from Khiva to Bukhara was a good CHEVROLET.
The driver filled the car with methane gas, not petrol because Uzbek domestic natural gas is cheaper than petrol.
事前に調べたところでは、ヒヴァ−ブハラ間は長距離悪路のようだったのですが、ご覧の通り、きれいな舗装道路が延々と続きます。
The road between Khiva and Bukhara was long but well maintained, not a rough dirt one.

モンゴルでも散々食った、あれとの再会です。

Just boiled sheep meat with bone.
この骨の髄を運転手さんがほじくり出して、ナンの上に乗せてくれました。
そうそう、こういう荒々しいのが食いたかったのだよ。
Our driver took marrow out from a bone and put it on my nan bread.
I wanted such wild local food on the way.
快走路をぶっ飛ばして、ブハラに到着。
ヒヴァでのイチャン・カラに続き、ブハラではこのアルク城がで～んと迎えてくれます。
This great Ark Castle welcomed me at Bukhara.
宿でチェックインを済ませたら、早速、お散歩です。
地球の歩き方で「ブハラの人気者」として紹介されているイスラム神学者、ブッジャ・ナスレッディンの像は、想像以上に人気者でした。
After check-in at a hostel, I walked out again right away.
Hodja Nasreddin is introduced in the guidebook as a very popular Islamic scholar and his statue on donkey was more popular with so many Uzbek local people than I imagined.
ブハラで見ておくべきは、大人気のおじさんの像の後ろにあるメドレセ（イスラム神学校）の壁面タイル。
偶像崇拝を禁ずるイスラムの戒律を破り、鳳凰、鹿、顔のある太陽が描かれています。
What we must see in Bukhara is the wall decoration of Nadir Divan-Beghi madrasah.
The image of Simurgh, deer, and the faced sun is designed there against the Islamic commandment which reuses idolatry.
大人気おじさん像やメドレセは、ラビハウズという池に隣接していて、ブハラ観光の中心地がここです。
ここもまた、ヒヴァと同じく、外国人観光客はあまり見かけず、地元ウズベク人の憩いの場のようになっています。
The popular scholar statue and the madrasah are located at Lab-i Hauz complex with a pond and this area is the center of Bukhara sightseeing.
I didn’t see mass of foreign tourists there either, it was a just relaxing place for local Uzbek.
私は国内外問わず、「写真を撮ってくれませんか」と声をかけられやすいことに定評があるのですが、ウズベキスタンも例外ではありませんでした。
こちらのウズベクおっちゃん＆おばちゃんグループに頼まれて写真を撮ってあげた後、私のカメラでも一緒に写ってもらいました。
旅だね。
I’m easily asked to take a picture by somebody anywhere in the world, in Uzbekistan too.
These local Uzbek people also asked me to take a picture of them at Lab-i Hauz.
After their own picture, we photographed each other with smiles.

ブハラの市場で干しブドウを1kg、買いました。
これが1週間のウズベキスタンひとり旅で買った、唯一のお土産となります。
I bought 1kg raisin at bazar for my family.
This was the only souvenir I bought on a one-week Uzbek trip.
ブハラから次の目的地、サマルカンドまでは鉄道で向かうのですが、ブハラ駅というのがブハラ市内から15kmも離れているという罠です。
どこでどうやって切符を買うのか、宿のおばちゃんに聞くと、駅まで行かずとも、路線バスでちょっと行ったところに切符売り場があると言います。
安易に地球の歩き方なんかには載っていない、こういう重要情報を自力で入手し、同宿の旅人たちにシェアしていたときの私は、ドヤ顔をしていたはずです。
“Tricky” Bukhara train station is located 15km away from Bukhara city.
I asked a hostess of the guesthouse where and how can we get a train ticket and she kindly told me that it is available at ticket office, just 10 minutes local bus ride in the city.
When I shared such important but unknown local information with roommates in dormitory, I must have looked triumphant.

キリル文字を読むに、「眼鏡屋」「銀行」とはありますが、「鉄道切符」はありません。
よく見ると、左のガラス扉の下に、ウズベキスタンの新幹線、アフロシヨブ号の写真が！
これを見つけなければ、ここが切符売り場だとはわかりません。
この切符売り場で、自分の順番を死守したり、横取りされたりしながらも、翌日の切符を確保！
This is that ticket office.
Reading Cyrillic, I found “optic” and “bank” but no “ticket”.
If I had missed a small picture of Uzbek bullet train “Afrosiyob” on the glass door, I would have passed this office.
I could somehow get the next day ticket from Bukhara to Samarqand.
