Travel to Tomonoura & Takehara

I stayed at Hiroshima Guest House En for the first night.

Although I worried that the guest house during the pandemic would be lonely, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Thank you so much!

I participated in a Peace Cycling Tour in Hiroshima with a local guide organized by sokoiko!.

The regular charge of 7,000 yen for 3 hours was only 4,500 yen during the campaign.

It was a worthwhile 3-hour tour that 4,500 yen was too cheap.

Speaking of Hiroshima, people tend to be interested only in the terrible atomic bombing on August 6, 1945, but on this tour, the guide tells us the daily life in Hiroshima until that day, Hiroshima on that day, and the recovery in Hiroshima from that day in his own words.

Although most of the tour participants were visitors to Japan before the pandemic, I recommend this tour to Japanese people too.

And the next destination was Miyajima.

Itsukushima Shrine is undergoing renovation for five years.

The visitors can see the torii gate with vermillion peeled off only during the renovation.

I would like to take part in a guided tour of Miyajima as a whole, including the shrine.

And I wish I could have time to climb Mt. Misen.

I strolled not only in the touristic street but also in the back alleys in Miyajima.

Miyajima is a famous touristic place, but it is an island with about 1,600 residents.

It was fun to get a glimpse of the feeling of life from the back alley.

I bought sashimi at a local fish store there.

Momiji Manju, a maple leaf-shaped bun stuffed with red bean paste, is a famous specialty in Hiroshima.

I visited Takatsudo for their original one, the Peace Tour guide recommended.

Their shop with a factory is not located on Miyajima nor on the tourist route between the train station and ferry terminal but is located in a residential area away from the station.

The eight-packed Momiji Manju I bought on a snowy evening for my family were all eaten immediately after I opened it at home.

I arrived at Guest House KICHI with the sashimi bought in Miyajima.

Located a few stations from Miyajimaguchi, it is a legendary guesthouse with many enthusiastic fans, mainly motorcycle riders, but unfortunately, it was closed this winter.

Some guest house owners and regulars gathered there.

This planned party in KICHI took me out for the trip.

Surprisingly, Wakabaya’s regulars were also there!

Furthermore, while I was talking with another guest, we found that he was also Wakabaya’s guest 6 years ago.

A guesthouse is fun!
