We walk around Luang Prabang.
ルアンパバーンは街そのものが世界遺産に登録されています。
The UNESCO registers the town of Luang Prabang itself as the World Heritage.
そういうわけで、外国人旅行者もたくさん。
欧米人はもちろん、中国、日本、韓国のほか、タイ人もかなり多かったです。
This is why many foreign such as European, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai tourists visit this small town.
市街地の真ん中にある、プーシーの丘に登りました。
ご覧のとおり、緑がいっぱいの街です。
ルアンパバーンは仏教寺院が多く建ち並んでいて、この丘にもあります。
Luang Prabang is a town with much nature as this view from Mount Pousi.
そこで、いきなり、合掌をした幸太郎。
この写真の合掌が、幸太郎にとって初めての合掌です。
これ以降、帰国してからも、別にやらせるわけでもなく、お寺、神社、仏壇の前に行くと自然と合掌をするようになりました。
幸太郎よ、神仏の力を感じるのか！？
And it is a town of Buddhism temples too.
Kotaro suddenly began to join his palms together as if he prayed!

そのプーシーの丘の近くで道に迷い、たまたま見つけたのが、伝統芸術・民族センター。
これが、すごく良かった！
規模こそは大きくないものの、展示内容はとても興味深いのはもちろんのこと。
さらに、その調査、撮影、考察などを地元出身の若い学生たちが行っているというスタイルがおもしろい！
ルアンパバーン観光の中ではマイナーでしょうけど、おすすめです。
We entered the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre.
I loved it so much!
Not only their exhibition but also their way of research and presentation by local young students is really interesting and unique.
市場を目指して歩く途中に立ち寄った食堂にて。
ルアンパバーンを代表する料理、カオソーイです。
薄味のベトナム料理に対して、ラオス料理はしっかりした味付けです。
牛か豚の血を固めたものも入っていました。
Here is “Khao Soi”, one of typical local noodles in Luang Prabang.
Lao food is more salty than Vietnamese.
この食べ物は、12年前にカンボジアで食べたのに似ている。
カンボジアでは「タンフー」と呼ばれていたのを思い出し、「タンフー？」と尋ねると、そうだと。
漢字にすると、豆腐です。
この手の豆腐はほんのり甘く、生姜がちょっと効いた、デザートなのです。
うまい。
I knew this food, which I had eaten in Cambodia 12 years ago.
This is Lao tofu!
It is different from the Japanese one, sweater and spicier with ginger.
ルアンパバーン観光の醍醐味と言えば、早朝の托鉢です。
しかし、もはや、見世物です。
大勢の外国人ツアー客が道沿いに並べられた椅子に腰掛けて、スナック菓子などを僧侶に差し上げ、それをまた別の観光客が至近距離でフラッシュを焚いて写真撮影。
街中のあちこちに、托鉢に対するマナーについてのポスターが掲示されていますが。
感動するどころか、無礼な行為を制止する係員が居てもいいのではないかと感じました。
The most fascinating scene in this town is a line of mendicant monks in the early morning, however, it seems almost a show for tourists.
Rude behavior to monks by some foreign tourists disappointed me badly.
ルアンパバーンに着いた日にはまだ、男たちが竹を組んでいた橋が、完成していました。
この橋を渡りきったときには、幸太郎は爆睡…。
The bamboo bridge was completed, which we saw under construction on the first day in Luang Prabang.
When I crossed over the river, Kotaro fell asleep.
「きみ、明日のパークウー洞窟へのツアー、頼んだよ」

We applied for a half-day tour to the Pak Ou Caves at a tour office.
