四国は小さくない！
四国を初めて、車やバイクで一周する場合、おそらく、四国はあなたが思っているよりも大きいです。香川、徳島、高知、愛媛の4県を4日間で回る計画を立てる方が多く、無理ではないもののかなり忙しくなります。日程に予定をもたせるか、距離が短めになるコースを組んでみましょう。特に、四国を海岸線でぐるりと一周する場合は、かなり距離が伸びますので注意が必要です。室戸岬（四国の南東・右下）と足摺岬（四国の南西・左下）周辺は、高速道路もありません。ただし、景色はいいですよ。
Shikoku is not small.
When travelling around Shikoku by car or motorbike, you’ll likely find the island larger than you imagined. Many plan to cover all four prefectures – Kagawa, Tokushima, Kōchi, and Ehime – in four days. While not impossible, it makes for a rather busy schedule. Consider either leaving some flexibility in your itinerary or planning a route with shorter distances. Particularly if you intend to circle the entire coastline, be aware that the distance involved increases considerably. The areas around Cape Muroto (southeast Shikoku) and Cape Ashizuri (southwest Shikoku) lack expressways. The scenery, however, is truly magnificent.

地図アプリと国道を過信しない
四国の山間部でのドライブ、ツーリングにも、注意が必要です。Google Mapsでは行けることになっていても、道幅がかなり狭かったりカーブが多かったりして、予想以上に時間がかかります。「国道」であっても油断禁物。いわゆる、酷道です。山間部では冬期通行止めもありますので、道路情報提供システムで通行止め情報を事前に確認しておきましょう。
Don’t believe Google Maps and “National Highway” too much.
Driving and touring in the mountainous regions of Shikoku also requires caution. Even if Google Maps indicates a route is passable, roads can be quite narrow or feature numerous bends, taking far longer than expected. Even “national highways (国道)” demand vigilance. Mountain passes may be closed during winter, so be sure to check road closure information in advance via the Road Information Provision System.

四国ツーリングには、ツーリングマップル

If you can read Japanese, I recommend preparing not only with Google Maps but also with the book map “Touring Mapple”. Google Maps always shows your current location and will get you to your destination. However, the route Google Maps suggests isn’t necessarily the route you’ll want to ride. Touring Mapple is created by rider journalists who actually ride the routes themselves, so it introduces routes that let you enjoy the true essence of touring Shikoku and its spectacular scenery. We recommend deciding your route using Touring Mapple, then saving each point onto Google Maps to follow. Touring Mapple is available on the bookshelf at Wakabaya.
