さて、3日目、最終日。
Day 3, the final.
さっきまで山道を走ってきたのが嘘のように視界が開けて、まるで異世界。これはモンゴルだ！
After running in the mountains, my field of vision suddenly opened up like magic, and saw a different world, Mongolia!
大学時代に毎年のようにモンゴルに通った私にとって、この風景をモンゴルだと思ったのは仕方のないことですが、ここは四国カルストです。
This scenery could not help reminding me of Mongolia, where I traveled every year when I was a university student however, this is Shikoku Karst.
このツーリング、最大の目的地であるモンゴル、いや、四国カルスト。雲は多かったものの、幸運にも霧はなし！ 四国カルストをしょっちゅう霧に覆われて、まったく何も見えなくなるところなのです。ああ、来てよかった。
The main destination of my touring trip was Mongolia, no, Shikoku Karst. Shikoku Karst often gets foggy and loose a view but when I visited there, luckily no fog! Oh, it was truly worth the trip.
中津渓谷に寄り道です。渓谷の入口あたりで、観光客に説明しているらしきおじさんがいたので、ここから先へもバイクで上がれるのかと聞くと「時間はなんぼでもあるき、案内したるわ。わしの軽トラに着いてきい。」と、いきなり、ガイドツアーが始まりました。この「案内したるわ」おじさんは歴史、植物、地質に詳しく、いかにも地元のおじさんらしい荒さもあって。仕事でもなんでもなく、たまたまそこに居たおじさん、ありがとう。
After Shikoku Karst, I dropped in at Nakatsu Valley. At the entrance of the valley, a local man talked me, “I have much time now and guide the valley for you. Follow my truck!” Suddenly, a short private guided tour began. He was knowledgeable about history, botany, and geology too. I liked his non-professional guide. Thank you!
中津渓谷は岩盤が切り立った深い渓谷で、雨竜の滝はなかなかの迫力。キャニオニングも楽しめるそうです。
Nakatsu Valley is a deep valley between steep bedrock, and Uryu Falls is magnific. You can also enjoy the canyoning tour on advanced booking.
さて、どんどん行きます。私の撮影スキルが残念なのですが、ここ数年で人気上昇中のにこ淵です。ほどよく陽の光も差し込んで、仁淀ブルーが拝めました。ただ、にこ淵の景色を見ることができるエリアがとにかく狭い。平日ですら私含めて数人の観光客でごった返したほどなので、連休などは大変な混雑になっているのでしょう。正直、さっきの中津渓谷も仁淀川の支流なので十分きれいですし、「案内したるわ」おじさんの話では子ども連れなら安居渓谷のほうが遊びやすいとのことです。
Let’s keep riding. Sorry for my bad picture but this is Nikobuchi, which is gaining popularity in the last few years. I could see the beautiful Niyodo Blue with sunlight. However, the area where the tourists see the scenery of Nikobuchi is too small. Even on weekdays, it was crowded with several tourists, including me, so it must be terribly crowded on weekends and holidays. To be honest, the Nakatsu Valley is a tributary of the same river and is pretty clean. And the amateur guide at Nakatsu Valley recommended Yasui Valley to play for family tourists.
道路からにこ淵まで降りる山道にあった協力金ボックス。そう、美しい自然はタダではありません。階段の整備や山道の草刈り、案内板の設置など、手間と費用がかかっています。みなさま、お納めください。

さて、にこ淵から国道194号を北上、寒風山トンネルを走り抜けて愛媛県に入り、瀬戸内へと戻ってきました。愛媛県の西条、新居浜、四国中央と東へ走って香川県に向かうのですが、国道11号の走りにくいこと。交通量、特にトラックは多いし、信号も多いし、景色も期待できません。それはわかっていたので、愛媛県道13号で迂回。ライダーのためのこういう迂回路の提案はやっぱり、ツーリングマップルです。Google Mapsだとずっと国道11号です。途中、天満峠の仏崎展望所で休憩。高松のゲストハウス仲間から紹介されたこの展望所、なかなかおすすめです。
After Nikobuchi, I headed north and entered Ehime Prefecture, the Setouchi Inland Seaside. I rode east for Kagawa Prefecture, but Route 11 has a lot of traffic and lights, and no good view. I knew that, so I took a detour. Google Maps can not give such a suggestion for a rider but a rider’s book map can do. On the way, I took a short break at a pass with a great landscape.
今回の四国カルスト前後のルートは高知市→中土佐→梼原→四国カルスト→R439→R194→愛媛県道13&R11→香川県でした。思った以上に山中のR439が快走路だったので、瀬戸内側のR11で東西へ走るぐらいなら、山中のR439で東西へ走ったほうが案外、気持ちよく走れそうだなと思いました。
さらに、バイクにしろ自転車にしろ、四国を海沿いに一周するなら時計回りがいいですね。左側通行なので、海岸線を走るときは時計回りのほうが海を見ながら走れます。
さて、香川県に戻ってきました。実はまだもう一つだけ、目的地があります。観音寺市の天空の鳥居こと、高屋神社本宮です。雲は多いものの、讃岐平野と穏やかな瀬戸内海、真っ直ぐな海岸線を眺めることができました。なるほど、これは天空の鳥居と称して申し分ありません。
I came back to Kagawa Prefecture at last. One more destination was still left: Takaya Shrine in Kan’onji City, which has a torii gate in the sky. Through the gate, the panorama of the peaceful Seto Inland Sea, Sanuki Plains and the straight beach line was the best goal for my journey.
ただしここも車でのアクセスには要注意です。稲積山の頂上にある本宮近くの駐車場までは、カーブの多い細い山道（カーブミラーなし）をだらだらと上らされます。ミニバンや慣れない車の運転だと、離合が大変です。それで、土・日・祝は車両等の通行は禁止となっています。往復1,000円のシャトルバスを利用してください。また、平日もシャトルタクシー（片道1,000円）が運行しています。詳しくは 天空の鳥居（高屋神社本宮）へのアクセスについて をご覧ください。
However, be cautioned to access there by car. You will drive along a winding narrow road to the parking lot near the shrine on the top of Mt. Inazumi. For a big car driver, it is difficult to pass by one another. Therefore, driving a car or a motorcycle is prohibited on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Take the shuttle bus at 1,000 JPY for the round. Shuttle taxis also operate on weekdays at 1,000 JPY for one way. For more information, please refer to Access to the Torii in the Sky (Takaya Shrine).
全行程約550km、2泊3日の四国まんなかツーリング。純粋なレジャーというよりは、若葉屋に来られるお客さんにご案内するための情報収集を目的とした旅でしたが、これはこれで、目的のある旅は楽しいものです。そんな真面目なまとめ方をしながらも、結局のところは、バイクツーリングってめっちゃ楽しい。
A 3-day touring trip in Shikoku for 550km. Rather than leisure, it was a trip for my work, and gathered information to share with Wakabaya’s guests. Despite the serious purposes, I really enjoyed the motorcycle touring!
