2022年4月3日から3泊4日で父子遍路に出かけました。
I went on a henro pilgrimage on foot with my 7-year-old son, Kotaro for 4 days from 3rd April 2022.
スタートは前回のゴール、徳島県阿南市は新野（あらたの）駅です。
いつもスタート地点に立つと、前回のゴールを思い出します。
Our start is always the previous goal.
When we came back to Aratano Station in Anan City, Tokushima, we remembered our last goal.
今回の歩き遍路はほぼずっと、国道55号線を歩きます。
交通量が多そうで嫌だなと思っていたら、それほど多くもなく、歩道もあるので意外と歩きやすいです。
We walked along Route 55 almost all the time.
Though I was afraid of the heavy traffic, it was not so much, and there were sidewalks, so actually, it was easy to walk.
ちょうど20kmで23番札所、薬王寺に到着。今回の遍路では唯一の札所となります。
もう1日20kmも余裕になってきました。
お念珠を手にして、お参りの支度をします。
Arrived at the 23rd Temple, Yakuoji Temple, just 20km away from the start. This was the only temple along our long pilgrimage this time.
A 20km walk is not tough for Kotaro anymore.
He picked up the Japa mala and prepared for worship.
宿でのチェックインを済ませたら、夕飯です。
旅ではその地方の名物を食べることも、幸太郎の楽しみ。
阿波尾鶏の定食1人前に、さらに白ごはんをおかわりしました。
After checking in at the guest house, it’s time for dinner.
Kotaro likes to eat local specialties on the trip.
We ate each local chicken set meal and another helping of rice.
薬王寺はすぐ隣に温泉があって、食後にひとっ風呂浴びて帰ろうとしたら、夜桜のライトアップをしてたので立ち寄りました。いい旅です。
After dinner, we took a bath at a hot spring and visited Yakuoji Temple again to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms lit up at night.
2日目。
恐ろしい道標が出てきました。
次の24番札所、最御崎寺（ほつみさきじ）まで76km。最御崎寺は室戸岬（四国の右下）にあり、太平洋沿岸に沿って歩きます。
Day 2.
We found a terrifying signpost.
76km to the next Hotsumisakiji Temple, the 24th. We walk along the Pacific coast towards the temple located at Cape Muroto.
お昼、ちょうどお腹が空いた頃に現れたラーメン屋に入りました。
この牟岐55ラーメン、めちゃくちゃうまかった。ちょっとした有名店みたいです。
When we felt hungry, a ramen shop appeared in front of us.
Mugi 55 Ramen was so nice!
2日目は21km歩いて15時前には宿に到着。時間的にも体力的にももっと歩けるけど、このまま歩き続きけてしまうと、日没までに次の宿が出てこなくなるので。
お風呂や洗濯も済ませて、夕方に海岸を散歩しました。
20km歩いた遍路少年と、アオリイカを8時間狙い続けるも釣果なしのおやじの後ろ姿です。
On the second day, we walked 21km and arrived at the guest house before 15:00. We could walk more, but if we had continued, could not have found the next place to sleep before sunset.
After taking a bath and washing clothes, we strolled around the beach in the evening.
We met a local man trying to fish for squid for 8 hours but no bag.
3日目。
連日20km超を歩きますが、道中でこうやって巨大松ぼっくりを拾って頭に乗せるあたり、男子小学生です。
そのうち、こんなこともしなくなるのかな。そういえば、3年前、遍路を始めた頃は道中あちこちで立ち止まりながらでなかなか進まず、よく転んでは泣いていました。ふと気づけば、もう転ぶこともなくなりました。
Day 3.
Kotaro can walk over 20km per day, but he is still a small boy.
He still picks up a giant pine cone on the way and put it on his head.
But he will play like that less and less with growing up.
When we started the henro walking three years ago, he used to stop, play, fall down and cry on the way.
He no longer falls down and cries.
JR四国の終点であり、阿佐海岸鉄道の始発である阿波海南駅を通り過ぎるときにちょうど、DMVが入線。鉄道モードからバスモードに切り替わるところを、じっくり観察しています。
When we were passing Awa Kainan Station, the southern end of the JR line, and the northern end of the Asa Coast Railway line, DMV, a Dual Mode Vehicle arrived at the station.
We carefully observed its transformation from railroad mode to bus mode.
今回の歩き遍路の後半は海遍路です。このあたりの海は本当にきれいで、太平洋は瀬戸内海と違って波があります。
The second half of the pilgrimage this time was on the coast. The view of the sea was really beautiful, and the Pacific Ocean has waves unlike the Seto Inland Sea our home.
道中、以前から交流のあった波流月ゲストハウスに立ち寄ってご挨拶しました。「四国でサーフィンがしたい!」というお客さんが若葉屋に来られたときは迷わず、波流月ゲストハウスをおすすめしています。
さて、オーナーの青じいこと青山さんと幸太郎は、会った瞬間に意気投合。
早速、ジオラマを使っての今後の構想を真剣に聞きます。
Along the way, we stopped by the Haryugetsu Guest House to give a greeting. When Wakabaya’s guests ask for surfing in Shikoku, we always recommend them to visit Haryugetsu.
As soon as Kotaro saw the owner, Mr. Aoyama, they became good friends, and he seriously listened to Mr. Aoyama talking about his future plans using diorama.
青山さんはプロサーファーであり、サーフボード職人でもあります。その工房を見学させていただきました。
Mr. Aoyama is a professional surfer and a surfboard craftsman. He showed us his workshop.
ゲストハウスのすぐ前は海。さて、どれが岩で、どれが幸太郎の坊主頭でしょうか？
The ocean is right in front of the guesthouse. Now, which is the rock, and which is Kotaro’s shaved head?
お昼に手作りのカレーライスとあんこをお腹いっぱい、いただきました。本当においしかったです。ごちそうさま。
We ate their handmade curry rice and sweet and got full. It was really delicious. Thank you so much!
ほんの数時間、立ち寄らせていただいただけなのですが、まるで秘密基地のようなお宿です。あんなにもワクワク感にあふれるゲストハウスはあるでしょうか。
とにかく楽しい。
ある意味、最近のおしゃれで「よくできた」ゲストハウスにはない楽しさなのです。同じゲストハウスオーナーとして、ふと、初心に帰らされたような気もしました。
ぜひ今度は家族みんなで泊まりに来たいです。
We stayed at his guest house for a few hours and it was like a secret base. What an exciting place！
It’s really fun!
Their attraction can not be found in fashionable and well-appointed guesthouses today. As a guesthouse owner, I realized the genuine attraction of the guest house there.
I will definitely come back there with my family next time.
さて、引き続き歩を進めます。
道中、走るDMVを何度か見かける度に、父子揃って興奮です。
このトンネルを抜けたところで、徳島県から高知県に入ります。
Well, we continued to walk forward.
Whenever we saw the DMV running along the way by accident, both of us were excited.
After passing through this tunnel, we entered Kochi prefecture from Tokushima prefecture.
3日目もちょうど20km歩いたところで宿に到着。
鯛一尾の塩焼きがメインの、豪華な夕食です。
On the third day, we arrived at the guest house after a 20km walking.
It was a gorgeous dinner with a big grilled fish.
4日目、ついに出ました!
お遍路さんたちから噂には聞いていた、「最終自販機」の看板。ここから先10km区間は、給水ポイントがありません。
気合を入れて、覚悟を決めて歩き進めます。
Day 4.
We finally saw the sign of the “final vending machine”.
We had heard of it from the pilgrims. There is no water supply in the 10km from there.
Just keep walking forward.
南へ進むにつれて、気のせいか、ときどき東南アジアのような雰囲気を感じます。通行の少ない道路に座って、買っておいたパンを食べます。そうしたら、漁網の補修をしていたおっちゃんがお茶ペットボトルのお接待をしてくれました。
We sat on the street and ate the bread. Then, a local man repairing the fishing net gave us a bottle of tea. Thank you!
ひたすら、この風景がずっとずっと続くのです。左に海、右に山。天気が悪かったり酷暑、極寒だと心が折れるかもしれませんが、とにかく海がきれいです。
This landscape keeps for miles and miles. The ocean on the left and the mountains on the right. The ocean is beautiful anyway, although it may be a tough journey if it is too hot, too cold, or rainy.
4日目は22ｋｍ歩き、室戸岬の最御崎寺まであと15ｋｍというところで、今回はおしまい。
室戸岬から北上する路線バスに乗り、DMV、JR牟岐線各停、高徳線特急と乗り継いで、5時間かけて帰宅。ずいぶんと自宅から遠いところまで歩いてきたものです。室戸岬には今まで、一度も行ったことがなかったのに、まさか歩いて行くことになろうとは。
4日間で８４ｋｍ歩いて、私は左足に豆ができてバンドエイドを2枚貼りました。
On the 4th day, we walked 22km and ended 15km short of Hotsumisaki-ji Temple on Cape Muroto.
It took 5 hours to go back home from there by bus and trains. We walked a long way from our home. I had never been to Cape Muroto before, and never imagined visiting there on foot!
After walking 84km in 4 days, I had blisters on my foot and put two band-aids on it.
