ゲストハウス若葉屋がオープンして早や、5ヶ月が過ぎようとしています。
オープンしてからもちょこちょこと、見えるところや見えないところの改善をやっています。
Five months will pass soon since guest house wakabaya opened.
We always try to continue the improvement.
昨日はこれです。
個室の扉上にある欄間です。
若葉屋の建つ土地にはもともと、戦前から建っていた木造民家がありました。
空き家になって長く、あまりにも荒廃しており、その民家は取り壊したのですが、その前に建具を何点か取り出して再利用しています。（その様子）
その一つがこの欄間です。
この欄間について先日、あるお客様からこんなご指摘をいただきました。
「夜間、廊下の照明が欄間を通して部屋に入ってきて、部屋が明るくなってしまいます」
この欄間を手直しして取り付けた時、白い部分にはすりガラスのような、光を通す樹脂製の板をはめていたからです。
なるほど、これは改善せねば、ということで、工務店さん、建具屋さんに相談。
昨日、作業が行われて、樹脂製の板から、光を通さない木製の板に和紙を貼ったものに付け替わりました。
外見上は違いがほとんどわかりませんが、これで夜も廊下の明かりが入らずに安眠していただけるかと思います。
Yesterday’s improvement is this.
This is a transom window in private rooms.
There was a house built before the war on the land where wakabaya stands now.
That house was too old and dilapidated so we pulled down it, but before that, we took out some fine joineries to reuse in the new guest house.
This transom window is one of them.
A guest stayed here pointed;
“Light comes into the room from the corridor through the transom window. It disturbed our sleep in the night.”
When we installed it after the repair, we used a white transparent plastic board.
Yes, we have to improve it!
Joinery changed it for a lightproof wooden board with white paper.
Its appearance is almost the same, but guests will be able to sleep better.
もうひとつのさらに細かい改善。
同じく、個室の扉の内鍵の金具部分です。
この個室の扉も、もとあった古民家から取り出して再利用しているものです。
この扉を開けると、内鍵の金具部分が飛び出している分、部屋の柱にぶつかって開け閉めがスムーズにできないことがありました。
そこで、柱に金具が通れるだけの切込みを入れてもらいました。
Another smaller improvement.
This is a furniture of lock in the private rooms on the sliding door.
This door was also taken out from the old house which had stood here to reuse.
It was difficult a bit to open and close the door well because this projecting lock hits on a pillar.
So we cut the pillar to make a groove to let the lock go.
改善はなかなかやっても目にはつきません。
でも、改善しないままでいると、お客さんにはそれが小さな「不満」として残ります。
日々、地味な改善をやっていきますよ。
These improvements are not noticeable.
But if we leave a small problem without improvement, it stays as guest’s small dissatisfaction.
We try to continue the improvement.
