ブラタモリでタモリさんの案内人をされた、香川大学の長谷川先生。
地質工学がご専門の長谷川先生によるまち歩きガイドツアーに参加させてもらったことがありまして、こちらはそのときのブログです。
Dr. Hasegawa of Kagawa University guided Tamori-san, a Japanese famous comedian, around Takamatsu in a TV program.
He is a geotechnical specialist, and I have participated in a walking tour guided by him.

Why the stonewall of Takamatsu Castle did not collapse at serious earthquakes three times?
この謎を解くまち歩きにゲストハウス若葉屋の宿主が参加したのは２０１７年の秋。
それ以降、ゲストハウス若葉屋に宿泊された歴史好きのお客さんには、居間の座卓に地図を広げての机上ブラタモリを楽しんでいただいてきました。

It was 2017 when the owner of Guest House Wakabaya participated in the tour.
I have given a lecture to our history-loving guests on Takamatsu history since then.
Thanks to the pandemic, I have much time to read local historical materials now and whenever we have time, we can arrange a historical walking or cycling tour from Wakabaya.

今朝、10時過ぎの高松城跡 玉藻公園 西門入ってすぐでの様子。
オレンジのジャンパーを着た男性が、石垣に使われている岩石や、積み方について説明しています。
This morning 10:00 at the west gate of Takamatsu Castle Ruin, Tamamo Garden.
A man in an orange jacket is explaining about stonewall.
「砂岩です！」
“This is a sandstone!”
高松三越裏の、シアトルズ・ベスト・コーヒーの横。
コンクリート壁に、なんとも書かれていない出入り口があります。
この中、実は血屋敷井戸の発掘跡があるんです。
まさかこんなところに史跡があったとは。

お次は、リーガホテルゼスト高松（私の前職）と高松市美術館の間にある今井戸跡。
「ここにも砂岩！ずいぶんと大きな礫（れき）ですよ！」
“Big sandstone boulder again here!” at another ruin of well.
中央通りと兵庫町商店街の交差点、川がないところにある橋、「八雲橋」です。
Yakumobashi Bridge is over the street, not over the river.
Why?
まるで、ブラタモリでしょ。
それもそのはず、このオレンジのジャンパーの男性は、実際のブラタモリ #59さぬきうどん と #60こんぴらさん でタモリさんを案内されたご本人なのです。

He is Mr. Hasegawa, a professor of engineering geology at Kagawa University.
さて今日の長谷川教授によるガイドツアーは、香川県観光協会などが主催する「さぬきアカデミー」の講座です。
そして今日のお題は、「高松城の石垣が3度の南海トラフ地震で崩れなかったのはなぜか？」。
高松港周辺の埋立がされるまで、高松城は海際に建っていました。
海際ということは、地面は基本、砂です。
つまり、地震が起こると液状化しますよね。
実際、宝永地震の際には、高松で液状化が起こったと思われる記述が見つかっているそう。
にも関わらず、文字通りの砂上の楼閣であるはずの高松城で、石垣が崩れたという記述は見つかっていません。
それはなぜか。

Takamatsu Castle stands at the seaside.
The land of the seaside is sand.
The earthquake occurs liquefaction on sandy land.
A historical archive tells that a terrible earthquake in 1707 occurred liquefaction along Takamatsu seaside, however, there is no description of the collapse of the castle stonewall.
Why?
I’ll tell you the reason at Guest House Wakabaya.
