2010年3月から2年間、セネガルでの青年海外協力隊を終え、2012年3月に帰国しました。
これからの暮らしの場は、地元、高松。
実は高校卒業以来、大阪、名古屋、セネガルで暮らしてきたので、高松で定住するのは10年ぶりのことです。
その間に通っていた幼稚園は閉園、小中学校は統合し、郊外には大型ショッピングモールができ、商店街の映画館は軒並み閉館し、あたりもシャッター街に。
しかしその一方で、映画「UDON」やうどん県PRによる讃岐うどんブームは案外、一過性でなく、うどんのように太く長く続き、県外客の列は続いています。
商店街でも再生の動きが起こり、丸亀町商店街は今や、商店街復活の象徴となっています。
海際の古びれた北浜倉庫街はカフェ、ライブハウス、雑貨店に生まれ変わり、内陸の仏生山は新しくできた温泉と江戸時代からの町並みが人びとを集めています。
そして、瀬戸内海に浮かぶ直島は徐々にアートの島として人気を集め、周辺の島々も巻き込んで瀬戸内芸術祭が開かれるようになりました。
うちの奥さんが神奈川県出身で、香川をまったく知らなかったということもあって、私は地元民でありながらも、改めて県内を観光するようになりました。
こんぴらさん、屋島、仏生山、四国遍路のお寺、小豆島、女木島、男木島…。
ん？
高松、香川がおもっしょげになってきょおるんとちゃうんな？
Takamatsu; after an absence of decade
I’ve returned to Japan in March 2012, after two years of volunteer activity in Senegal.
My new place to live from that day is my home town; Takamatsu.
It was just for ten years that I was absent here after going to the university in Osaka.
While my absence, our preschool was closed, our elementary and junior high school were unified because of the decrease in children population, huge shopping malls opened in suburban, and downtown fell into a decline.
On the other hand, “sanuki udon” got very popular and it keeps going now.
The shopping arcade downtown is also trying to recover.
Old warehouses on the seashore were reborn as fashionable cafes, bazaar, and live music clubs.
“Bushozan area” also gets popular with its new spa and old townscape constructed Edo era.
And “Naoshima island” got famous as an artistic island and they open an art festival with other islands on Setonaikai inland sea.
I visited sightseeing places in Kagawa again, though I’m a resident of Kagawa.
Kompira shrine, Mt. Yashima, temples, islands, etc.
Yes, Takamatsu, Kagawa are getting exciting, area aren’t they?
