「この花は、何ですか？」
昨夜、ドイツからお越しのお客さんから受けた質問です。
見えますか？
この写真に、花が３輪、咲いています。
毎日、お客さんをお迎えしていると、どうしても各所に汚れやシミができてきます。
それを取り去るべく、日々、清掃に励んでいるわけですが、壁だけはそうもいかないのです。
それは、若葉屋の壁紙は和紙で出来ているからです。
そういうわけで、年1回、まとめて部分補修をしていきます。
予備の和紙を花型や葉っぱ型に切って、汚れの上から貼りかぶせます。
こうやって汚れを隠して、花で魅せる、という補修の仕方もまた、日本的な感じがしますね。

This question was given by guests from Germany last night.
Can you see three flowers in this picture?
While we welcome guests every day, some parts of our house get spots sometimes.
Though we try to get rid of them every day by cleaning, the wall is impossible.
This is because the wallpaper in guesthouse wakabaya is made by natural Japanese paper called “washi 和紙”.
So, I repair it once a year.
I cut paper in a flower shape and paste it on the spot.
The way of repair to hide spots and show flowers is very Japanese.
相変わらず、ちょこちょこと改善を続けています。最近では、こちら、周辺情報スペースを一新。
これまでは、ビニールシートを縫い合わせて自作した、パンフレット入れを使っていました。
が、それがどんどん、我が家の1歳半の幸太郎によって破壊されていったので、作りなおしました。
角材と塩ビ板を切ったり貼ったりして、自作パンフレット入れVer2が登場。
見やすく、取りやすく、在庫管理しやすく、幸太郎に壊されにくく！
今、数えてみたら、名刺サイズからA4サイズまで、パンフレット、フライヤー、時刻表など、90種類ほどが並んでいました。
お客さんからは、「観光案内所みたい」とか「図書館みたい」と言われています。
We keep improving.
I renewed this leaflet board recently because the former one was being broken by our little son.
The new one is easier to look at, easier to take, easier to maintain stocks, and more difficult to destroy.
