Go shopping before dinner
Most of the shops along the Takamatsu Shopping Arcade close at around 7 pm.
- Drug stores are open until 21:00 or 22:00.
- Don Quijote (돈키호테, 唐吉訶德) Takamatsu Marugame-machi store is open until midnight.
- Shops in the Youme Town Takamatsu complex close at 21:00 or 21:30.
Avoid crowds during the holidays

Japan has many national holidays. Hotels, transport and tourist attractions become overcrowded during consecutive public holidays. They get particularly congested during ‘Golden Week’ in May, ‘Obon’ in August, and at the beginning and end of the year.
Obon is not a public holiday, but a customary summer holiday period. In 2026, it falls from 13th to 16th August. As 11th August is a public holiday, congestion will begin from 11th August.
