We joined the observation tour for the restoration of remains in Yashima.
The remains are “Yashima-no-ki”, a castle gate of Yashima.
That castle is quite different from Himeji-jo or Matsumoto-jo built after 13th century.
Yashima-no-ki is much older than them, it was built in 7th century!
After the Battle of Baekgang in Korea in 663, the Japanese Yamato Imperial Court ordered to build the castle over the Yashima Mountain to defend against Chinese Tang and Korean Silla.
City officers explained its structure, history, and processes of the restoration in detail.
Great urban view of our town spread behind him.
What did the Yamato soldiers see from here 1,350 years ago…
