閑散期である2月の前半は若葉屋を冬休みにして、あちこちお出かけしました。主役は我が家の保育園児たち。いちご組の寿々子（2歳）と、りんご組の喜一（5歳）です。
We closed Wakabaya in the first half of February, our off-season, and went out with our children: 2-year-old daughter Suzuko and 5-year-old son Kiichi.
しろとり動物園 Shirotori Zoo, Higashi Kagawa

公式サイトを開くなり「自由すぎる。」という文字が飛び出してきますが、そのとおり。このウサギさんはウサギコーナーに居るわけではなく、園内どころか、そのへんを自由にうろうろしています。もはや、飼育動物なのか野生動物なのかわかりません。
ヤギもブタも「こわい」と言う寿々子も、ウサギだけは「すきー」と言って、自らなでなでしていました。
It’s a easygoing zoo. This rabbit is not in the cage but wanders around inside and outside the zoo, maybe. I don’t know if they’re domestic or wild.
Suzuko was afraid of the goats and the pigs, but liked the rabbits so much and was petting them.
しろとり動物園はもともと、家族経営から始まった片田舎の小さな動物園です。もう古い動物園ですが、なんかやたらと元気いっぱいで、行くたびに拡張したり、新施設ができていたりします。前まで、ペンギンもいませんでした。
It was initially a small zoo in the countryside that started as a family business. It’s old but very active. It still expands and builds new facilities. I didn’t see penguins when I visited last time.
コツメカワウソとの握手コーナー。うーん、どっちもかわいい。
しろとり動物園は動物とのふれあいがいっぱいできます。だいたいの動物たちに餌やりができますし、ショーもゆるくてアットホームです。
若葉屋から関西方面へ車で帰られる、お子さん連れのご家族によくおすすめしていますよ。
Handshaking time with a small-clawed otter. They’re both cute!
At Shirotori Zoo, visitors can feed most animals, and the show is relaxed and fun.
I highly recommend it to families with children driving back from Wakabaya to the Kansai area.
讃岐おもちゃ美術館 Sanuki Toy Museum, Takamatsu

しろとり動物園の翌日に行ったのは讃岐おもちゃ美術館です。
ここは主に木でできたおもちゃで遊べる美術館。しかし、子どもがおもちゃで遊べるだけでもありません。このおもちゃたちは香川の風景や文化をモチーフにしたものや、伝統工芸士たちが本気で作ったものも多いので、大人だけで行ってもスタッフの方の案内で見て回るのでも楽しめます。
寿々子は「さぬきのもり」に立ち並ぶ木の穴からイモムシを引っ張り出す、というおもちゃを楽しんでいました。
The day after Shirotori Zoo, we went to the Sanuki Toy Museum.
This is a museum where children can play with wooden toys. But not only for children. The motifs of many of the toys are the scenery and culture of Kagawa, and many of them were made by traditional craftsmen, so even an adult will enjoy looking around with the guide staff.
Suzuko enjoyed to pulls out the toys of caterpillars from the forest trees.
少し大きなお兄ちゃん、喜一はこうやって頭を使うおもちゃに集中していました。
Kiichi, a little big brother, was concentrating on some intellectual toys.
おままごとも、いろいろとリアル。写真を撮り損ねましたが、讃岐うどんごっこもできます。もちろん、セルフスタイルです。
Playing house is also real. I failed to take a picture, but they can also play Sanuki udon shop. Of course, it’s a self-service style.
子どもたちが大好き、ボールプールも木製。このプールに中に、うどん脳デザインの木の玉が隠れています。

子どもたちは急に空腹を宣言するものです。大丈夫。美術館のすぐ前にはミュージアムカフェがあります。子連れで利用しやすい座敷で、低めの座卓があります。子どもたちが注文したオムライスよりも、お父さんが注文したおばんざいランチが先にきました。喜一は「南京（かぼちゃ）ほしい」というのでそれをつまみ、寿々子は「コメ！」というのでごはんをつまんでいます。
Children suddenly declare that they are hungry. But don’t worry. There is a museum cafe right in front of the museum.
讃岐おもちゃ美術館は赤ちゃん連れでも遊べますし、外で遊べない雨の日にはもってこいですし、おもちゃとはいえ、香川を十分に感じられる魅力的な旅先です。高松中央商店街のすぐそばにあるので、周辺散策も楽しめますよ。
At the Sanuki Toy Museum, you can play even with your baby, and it’s perfect for rainy days when you can’t play outside. Although it is a toy, it is an attractive travel destination to touch local crafts. Since located next to Takamatsu Shopping Street, you can enjoy walking around the area.
