ゲストハウス若葉屋では、４月１日より新規の宿泊予約の受付を停止していましたが、その後、実質の休業状態に入りました。
Guest House Wakabaya has suspended the new booking since 1st April 2020, substantially, Wakabaya is closed now.
3月の時点では、４月もわずか数件ではありますが、予約がありました。
しかし4月に入って、感染状況が刻一刻と悪化する中、予約のあるお客さんに、こちらから「本当に来られますか？」という確認の連絡を１件、１件、入れていきました。
来るか来ないかを事務的に確認するというよりも、むしろ、「来ないほうがいいのでは」と、こちらから示唆するような連絡でもありました。
本来、旅でやってこられるお客さんを、喜んで迎えるはずのゲストハウスです。
そのゲストハウスを営む私が、お客さんにこのような連絡をしていて、悲しくなりました。
Last March, we still had a few bookings for April.
However, as the infection situation in Japan was getting worse in April, I made one and one contact with the booking holders to confirm, “Can you really come?”
It was almost a suggestion, “You should not come,” rather than confirming whether they would come.
We are a guesthouse that is willing to welcome guests.
It was sad that I, who runs the guesthouse, made such contact with the guest.
結果、すべての予約がキャンセルになりました。
As a result, all April reservations have been canceled.
聞くと、「結婚式が香川であって、家族での宿泊を予定していた。その結婚式が延期になった」とか、「そもそも、フランスから出ることができない。日本への旅は、キャンセルだ」とか、「（バイク）ライダー８人での旅を、ずいぶん前から計画してきた。旅のしおりまで作って、仲間たちと盛り上がっていたけど…」とか。
When asked, “I was planning to stay at Wakabaya with my family to attend a wedding party. The party was canceled.”
Or “I am stuck home in France. Canceled my trip to Japan.”
“I’ve been planning a trip with eight motorbike riders for a long time. We were so excited that we made our own guidebook but…”.
みんな、旅を楽しみにしていたんだろうなと想像すると、本当に、残念です。
I really regret to imagine that they were looking forward to the trip.
同じようなことが、ゲストハウス若葉屋だけでなく、日本中、世界中で起こっています。
そこで、今、日本各地、40軒を超えるゲストハウスが連携して、クラウドファンディングを行っています。
その名も、「みらいの宿泊券」。
Similar things happen not only at Guest House Wakabaya but throughout Japan and around the world also.
So now, over 40 guest houses from all over Japan are collaborating to carry out crowdfunding.
The name is “Accommodation Ticket for Your Future.”
みらいの宿泊券とは、
- 2020年9月1日（火）〜2021年8月31（月）の期間中、全国の連携ゲストハウスのドミトリーや個室に宿泊できます。
- メールで届く電子チケットです。どこを旅していても、受け取れます。
- お友だちにギフトとして贈ることができるので、支援者本人だけでなく、もらったひとも利用できます。
- 宿泊の予定のない方は、宿泊券なしの「支援のみ」や、特産品、広告掲載権、講演依頼といったリターンも用意しています。

What is it?
- From September 1st 2020 to August 31st 2021, you can stay in dormitories and private rooms in linked guest houses nationwide.
- It is an electronic ticket that arrives by email. Take it wherever you travel.
- You can give it as a gift to your friends, so it can be used by not only the supporter him/herself but also the person who received it.
- For those who do not plan to travel, we also offer returns such as “support only” without accommodation tickets, advertising rights, lecture requests, and so on.
