8月19日、ゲストハウス若葉屋は初めての休業日としました。
We had the first holiday on 19th Aug.
それで行ってきたのが、こちら、香川県の西部、三豊市仁尾町のFree Cloudさんです。
ゲストハウス若葉屋から車で高速を使わずに1時間半弱。
JRだと高松駅から予讃線の詫間駅まで45分ぐらいで、詫間駅からは送迎（要予約）があります。
決して、近所ではないのですが、そうして何をしに行ったかといえば、
Then we visited this Free Cloud in Nio, Mitoyo city, western Kagawa.
It takes about an hour and a half by car from wakabaya and about 45 minutes from Takamatsu to the closest Takuma station by train.
They pick you up at Takuma station; a reservation is required.

見た感じ、カヌーみたいです。
さて、準備万端、出航！
enjoy a sea kayak.

“Now, we got ready!”
「シー」カヤックなので、もちろん、海です。
川や湖なら、ラフティングは何度もしたことがありますし、カヌーやスワンで遊んだこともあります。
でも、海でカヤックって、みなさんもあまりやったことがないのでは？
This is a SEA kayak, so we go to the sea, of course.
I’ve experienced rafting several times at rivers.
But have you ever tried a sea kayak?
目指す行く手は、無人島の蔦島（つたじま）です。
瀬戸内海は太平洋や日本海と違って、波の静かな穏やかな海なのですが、その中でもここ、仁尾の海はさらに穏やかです。
Free Cloudの小前さんによると、このあたりは船の航路にもなっていないので、船が航行したときに起きる波も来ないのだそう。
同じ四国の高知・徳島の吉野川ではラフティングが楽しめて、あのスリリングな激流が醍醐味。
一方、この仁尾でのシーカヤックは対照的です。
基本的には転覆したり、海に落ちることもなく、夏以外でも楽しめます。
イリコ（イワシの小さいの。煮干しの原料）の群れをサバが追いかけるのが見れたりしながら、のんびりと漕いでいきます。
ちなみに、このあたりのイリコは絶品で、さぬきうどんのダシにも使われていますよ。
Our destination is Tsutajima island with no residence.
The Seto Inland Sea is very calm unlike the Pacific Ocean nor Japan Sea.
This sea area off Nio is especially calm in the Seto Inland Sea.
According to Mr. Komae; an instructor of Free Cloud, even the ship wave doesn’t reach there because this area is out of ship lanes.
The great pleasure of rafting, which you can enjoy along Yoshinogawa river at Tokushima and Kochi prefecture is the thrilling and strong stream.
On the other hand, this sea kayak at Nio is contrastive to it.
It is not turned over, we do not fall down over the sea, usually.
And you can enjoy it not only during summer.
We row a kayak while seeing a mackerel pursuing a shoal of sardines.
By the way, sardines captured in this area is famous for their high quality and we make soup stock for udon with them.
蔦島に近づいてきました。
岩場の間を抜けて上陸です。
もちろん、自分でカヤックを漕いで無人島に上陸というのは初めての体験。
冒険心のようなものを掻き立てられます。
Now we’re approaching Tsutajima island.
After this rocky shore, we land there.
Of course, this is the first experience for us to land on a desert island by self-rowing.
It’s like an adventure!
蔦島に上陸すると、対岸、四国本島の山々から虹が上っているのが見えました。
We saw a rainbow from the island.
写真にはありませんが、この蔦島含め、香川県沖のいくつかの島々には地質学的に特異な景観が見られます。
地質マニアにもおすすめです。
蔦島をのんびりと散歩したあと、仁尾の浜に向けて戻ります。
Unfortunately without a picture, you can see some unique geological landscape at Kagawa islands, including Tsutajima.
Recommended to geology fans.
After a short walk on the island, we left there back for Nio beach.
この仁尾でのシーカヤックの醍醐味はこの夕暮れの時間。
夕日そのものを見て楽しむというより、夕日が沈むこの時間を楽しむ、という感じです。

The great pleasure of sea kayak at Nio is this sunset time!
Not enjoy sunset itself, but enjoy the time of sunset.
I can’t express it in words.
ときどき、ゲストハウス若葉屋はお休みして、香川県内はもちろん、あちこち、うろうろしに行ってきます。
旅人を迎える宿でありながらも、自分たちも旅人であり続けていきます。
We close the guesthouse sometimes and visit somewhere.
We do not only welcome travelers at wakabaya, but we are also travelers.
