桜は散り始めていますが、ゲストハウス若葉屋の木々からは青々とした「若葉」がすくすくと生長中です。
After cherry blossoms, green leaves; “wakaba” in Japanese appeared on trees in wakabaya.
「耳栓って、ありました？」
昨年の7月から何度か、ゲストハウス若葉屋にリピートしてくださっている、あるお客さん。
昨日、いつものように、ドミトリーに入って、気づいてくださいました。
つい先日から、ドミトリーには耳栓を置いています。
1袋100円での販売です。
ある夜に、ドミトリーの方から大きないびきが聞こえてきまして…。
ドミトリーをよく使われる旅人さんなら、この経験、あるのでは？
いびきはしょうがないです。
いびきドミにあたるかもと承知の上でのドミ、とはいえやはり、少しでも安眠したいものです。
そういうわけで、置いてみました。

駐輪場にある日、設置した金属製の棒。
自転車やバイクの盗難防止チェーンを括りつけて固定するための棒です。
タイヤにチェーンをかけるだけでなく、それを建物に固定したい、という声がありましたので、設置しました。
We installed this metallic pipe in our bike parking lot.
This is to bind their bikes and parking house with chain locks for security.
個室もドミも、布団の敷き方をちょっと変えてみました。
どちらも、お客さんが広げやすいように。
We changed how to set futon mats in our dormitory and private room to spread it easier for guests.
女性専用トイレができました。
これまで、3ヶ所とも男女兼用でしたが、2ヶ所を男女兼用、1ヶ所を女性専用としました。
We changed one of the unisex toilets to one for women only.
バスの案内。
ほとんどのお客さんが若葉屋まで、ことでん（電車）で来られます。
でも実は、暑い日、寒い日、雨の日、荷物が多いなど、少しでも歩きたくない方の場合は、電車よりも、バスのほうが便利です。
ウェブサイトのアクセス案内でもバス路線について紹介し、居間にはことでん花園駅からの時刻表に加え、最寄りの高予備前バス停からの時刻表も掲示するようにしました。
We started to introduce local bus to wakabaya, not only by train on our website and show timetable in the common space.
If you hate to walk outside, a bus is better transportation than a train.
ドミのはしごの消音。
はしごの金具とベッドの、わずかな隙間。
昇り降りをする際に音がするので、それを抑えるためにクッション材をかましました。
We pasted a cushioning at a very small gap between the wooden bed and the metal fitting of the ladder to soften their noise.
各ベッドのミニ物干し。
これまでは突っ張り棒を付けていましたが、もっと重さに耐えられて、着脱も簡単な物干し棒を作ってみました。
We fixed a short individual laundry pole at every bed in the dormitory.
This new pole can support more weight and can be removed and attached more easily than the former one.
まだまだ、これからやろうとしていることもあります。
けど、明日4月12日からゲストハウス若葉屋はしばらく、お休みです。
妻と息子（5ヶ月）と一緒に台湾へ、行ってきます。
帰国して翌週にはゴールデンウィークです。
また、たくさんのお客さんをお迎えいたしますね。
More improvements are still ideas, but we close guesthouse wakabaya for two weeks from tomorrow, 12th April 2015 to go journey to Taiwan with my wife and five-months son.
After our return, Japan will have long holidays called “the Golden Week”, so we’ll welcome many guests again.
