以前はバスタオル100円、フェイスタオル50円での有料レンタルでした。

Our bath towel cost 100JPY and face towel 50JPY previously.
「ゲストハウスやホステルではタオルはないか、あっても有料だろう」と私は思っていたので、旅先へはいつもタオルを持参します。
昨秋、大阪の某ホステルに泊まると、無料のタオルが用意されていました。
One day I stayed in a hostel in Osaka with my own towel.
Then, I found a free towel there!
「うれしい！」
I was happy!
旅人のみなさんはご存知のとおり、タオルを持参することは、苦ではないのです。
問題は、タオルを使い終わって、チェックアウト前のパッキングのとき。
生乾きのタオルを持って旅する、あの不快感なのです。
As you, travelers know, it is not a problem to bring one’s own towel.
What we don’t like is to pack a still wet towel into the bag when we check out.
そういうわけで、タオル無料化です。
This is why we made the towel free.

その某ホステルのシャワーブースの脱衣室には、交換用のバスマットが用意されていました。
I found clean bath mats for exchange in their shower room.
「そうか、別のお客さんが使ったあとの濡れたバスマットは、気持ち悪いのか！」
Yes, a bath mat wetted by others is unpleasant for some people!
反省すべきことに、そんなこと、気にしたことがありませんでした。
そこで、若葉屋でも交換用のバスマットを…置きません！
「そもそも、濡れたマットを交換することすら、不快に感じる人がいるはず」と思ったからです。
I noticed it for the first time, but we don’t prepare the mat for exchange because it must be unpleasant for some people even to exchange the wet mat by themselves.
若葉屋では、（ほぼ）いつでもさらさら状態のバスマットに切り替えました。
濡れた足で乗っても、からだを拭き終わるころには、マットの表面は既に乾きつつあるという代物です。
We put a new bath mat.
It is almost always dry.
Even while you wipe your body on that mat with a wet foot, the mat is getting dry.
