ソウルからは訪日リピーターの若い女性。高松でゆったり過ごして、昼前のソウル便で帰国するべく、高松空港へ向けてご出発。
A young lady from Seoul, Korea was a repeat visitor to Japan. She spent a relaxing time in Takamatsu and left Wakabaya for Takamatsu Airport to board the returning flight home.
徳島県に移住されて間もない女性は、山あいから乗ってこられた自家用車で高松空港へとご出発。朝便に乗るための前泊で若葉屋をご利用くださいました。
A small car also started running for Takamatsu Airport. The driver had just moved into the mountains in Tokushima and she stayed at Wakabaya for the night before her morning flight.
中国は深圳から来られた女性は初めての日本旅行で、豊島へ向けてご出発。前日は丹下健三設計の香川県庁東館と直島で、建築探訪の旅です。
A woman from Shenzhen, China, departed for Teshima Island on her first trip to Japan. The day before, she visited Kagawa Prefectural Government Office designed by Kenzo Tange and Naoshima Island for an architecture trip.
香港から来られたカップルは、日本旅行の最終日。日本で買った品々をスーツケースになんとか押し込んでパッキング。パンパンのスーツケースを若葉屋に預け、散策と食事でちょっとお出かけ。
A couple from Hong Kong was on the last day of their journey. They managed to pack a lot of shopping into their suitcases. They left their overstuffed suitcases at Wakabaya and went out for a walk and a lunch.
Amazonの配達員がやってきました。居間の座卓に常設している充電ケーブルが壊れたので、新しいのを注文していたのです。PD対応の高速充電ができる2ポートのプラグと、Type-CケーブルとLightningケーブルです。ここで充電しながらチェックインと旅プラン作戦会議ができます。
The Amazon delivery came. The charging cable that I had ready on the table in the living room broke, so I ordered a new one: a 2-port plug with quick PD charging, a Type-C cable, and a Lightning cable. Our guests can check in and have trip planning while charging here.
さて、館内清掃を進めていると、お昼ごろにまた別のソウルからの若い女性がご到着。彼女も訪日リピーターで日本語も堪能。高松に行くか松山に行くかで迷ったけど、さぬきうどんが食べたくて高松に。
While I was cleaning the rooms, another young lady from Seoul arrived around noon. She was also a repeat visitor to Japan and spoke fluent Japanese. She was torn between going to Takamatsu or Matsuyama but chose Takamatsu because she wanted to eat Sanuki udon.
そうこうしていると、お出かけしていた香港人カップルが戻ってきました。荷物をピックアップして、帰国の香港便に乗るべく高松空港へ向けてご出発。
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong couple came back. They picked up their luggage and left for Takamatsu Airport to go on board their return flight to Hong Kong.
こうやってお客さんのお見送り、お迎え、館内清掃をしながら、妻や子どもたちが帰ってきて、洗濯物を取り込んだりしているとあっという間に夕方。
While I was seeing off and welcoming guests, and cleaning the house, my wife and children were coming back home, I was taking in laundry, and the evening came quickly.
上海からは歩きの女性お遍路さんがご到着。若葉屋では国内外から多くのお遍路さんをお迎えしていますが、中国からの歩きのお遍路さんは彼女がなんと初めて。仕事を辞めて、次はドイツで働くそうで、その合間にお遍路を思い立ったとのこと。
A female pilgrim from Shanghai arrived at Wakabaya on foot. We have welcomed many pilgrims (ohenro san) from Japan and abroad, but she was the first one from China. She quit her job to work in Germany next, and decided to make the pilgrimage in between.
チェックイン業務も終わり、子どもたちも就寝し、21時で玄関をオートロック施錠。この日の宿泊データや会計ソフトの入力をします。
Check-in operations were over, our children went to bed, and I locked the entrance at 9:00 p.m. I entered the day’s lodging data and accounting software.
そういえば、洗面所に置いてある耳栓の在庫が少なくなってきていました。耳栓200袋入りをポチッと注文。
I remembered that the stock of earplugs on the washstands was getting low. I ordered 200 bags of earplugs.
今日、届いた充電ケーブルに付ける「充電する？」タグを２つ作りました。こういう地味な作業がいっぱいあります。お客さんが自由に使っていい備品は、こうやって「使っていいんですよ」という表示が必要なのです。
I made two tags of “Charge?” to attach to the charging cables delivered today. There is a lot of small work like this. This kind of signage is necessary so that our guests can use it freely.
こうして、ゲストハウス若葉屋、開業10年目の一日が過ぎました。パーティーをするわけでもなく、記念グッズをつくるわけでもなく、いつもどおりの一日。でも、いつもが違う毎日。強いていうなら、家族で花火をしたぐらいかな。いや、あれは前日だったかな。
Guest House Wakabaya’s 10th anniversary passed like this. We didn’t have a party, we didn’t make any commemorative goods, it was just a day as usual. But every day is different. If I had to say something, it would be that we had fireworks with my family. No, it was the day before.
