若葉屋の駐車場に、マイクロバスがやってきました。
コロナ禍前は、ときどきあったのですが、久しぶりのマイクロバスです。
A microbus arrived at Wakabaya’s parking lot.
A microbus comes sometimes but this was the first time since the pandemic started.
彼らは、三重県からの小学生ソフトボールチーム、度会（わたらい）イーグルス！
高松市内で行われたソフトボール大会に出場するための遠征です。
小学4年〜6年生の選手たちと、監督やコーチ、お母さんがたなど、総勢24人。
若葉屋と、若葉屋から徒歩10分のところにあるKinco. hostel+cafe さんとに分かれての二棟貸切です。
“Watarai Eagles”, an elementary school softball team from Mie prefecture visited Takamatsu to play in a national competition.
24 guests, the little softball players, manager, coach, and mothers stayed in Wakabaya and Kinco. hostel+cafe, another hostel nearby.
大会から帰ってくるなり、球場の砂を浴びた子どもたちが代わりばんこでお風呂に入り、洗濯機は何度も回り、お母さん方は洗濯物を干し続け、休む間もなく、テイクアウトしてきたお好み焼き、弁当、うどんなどを食べ、翌日に向けての打ち合わせをして、ようやく、大人たちもつかの間の一服をして、寝る！
まるで、祭りのような2泊3日でした。
若葉屋で風呂に入り、メシを食って、寝た子どもたちはもう、「うちの子」です。
As they came back from the competition every day, sandy boys took a bath, mothers washed and hung out so many dirty clothes, had dinner together, and went to beds after the staff meeting.
Those three days were like a festival.
The boys who took a bath, ate, and slept at our house were like “our boys”.
ささやかながら、若葉屋のホワイトボードでも応援していましたが、3日目の準々決勝の試合は、実際にうちの子たちを応援しようと、私も球場へ行きました。
I also went to the softball stadium to cheer “our boys” on the third day, the quarterfinal.
あるチームをこんなにも、心の底から応援したのは、いつぶりだったでしょうか。
若葉屋ではふざけまくっていた男子たちが、球場では本当に男前でした。
結果は3−４、逆転及ばず、惜敗。
私には、オリンピックや甲子園よりもはるかに、いい戦いを見せてもらったと思っています。
うちの子たち、かっこよかった！
I had not cheered a specific team such heartily for a long before their game.
The romping boys in Wakabaya were really cool on the softball ground.
Sadly, they were defeated 3 to 4, but it was definitely an impressive game rather than the Olympic games for me.
Our boys did well!
